Early Childhood Programs

The Bank Street Head Start
The Bank Street Head Start offers child centered early childhood classes and home-based programs for 60 families on East 13th Street. Steven Antonelli, Administrative Director, 212-353-2532, ex. 232.

Bedford Hills Programs
Bedford Hills Programs includes the provision of free College courses from a consortium of 12 colleges including Bank Street towards a Sociology degree from Marymount Manhattan and Mercy Colleges. Bank Street is also providing training for inmates as Child Care Providers and Learners in the Children's Center and a credit/non-credit Creative Writing and other courses and workshops. Center for Early Care and Education
Center for Early Care and Education offers CDA preparation through two programs: The Head Start Training Institute, a partnership with ACS/Head Start is designed to prepare Head Start parents and assistant teachers as caregivers and to obtain the Child Development Associate, CDA Credential. The Pre School CDA is designed for individuals who wish to increase their skills and understanding of infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Click here to view a printable flyer. Center for Emotionally Responsive Practice
Center for Emotionally Responsive Practice is designed to build preventive mental health intervention components within PreK and Kindergarten classes in New York City schools through a range of continuous staff development seminars for teachers, social workers and administrators on Emotionally Responsive Practice. The Center for Early Childhood Professionals (formerly Center for Universal Pre-K)
The Center for Early Childhood Professionals works to improve the quality of educational services for young children by providing a range of professional development services and resources for teachers, support staff, administrators, policy makers and advocacy groups. New Beginnings
New Beginnings, a collaboration with the Newark Public Schools and several foundations to strengthen early childhood classrooms in 10 schools through intensive professional development. Adrianne Kamsler, Director, 212-961-3409.

Albuquerque Early Childhood Teacher Mentor Project
Albuquerque Early Childhood Teacher Mentor Project. Continuing Education professionals collaborate with the Office of Early Childhood in the Albuquerque Public Schools to prepare experienced teachers as mentors for newer teachers. Our staff model a variety of staff development strategies and methods which mentors can use to foster trusting relationships with mentees. Giant Step Head Start Project
