David M. Sturm
David M. Sturm is the Interim Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. In that role, his focus is on improving data management and accessibility, and on developing strategies to manage and support Bank Street’s diverse IT needs.
As an independent consultant, David brings to the table over 30 years of experience in the strategic management of organizations undergoing transformations driven by advances in information technology. For 14 years, he was the Vice President and Chief Information Officer at The New York Public Library. There, he managed the strategic planning of the development of state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the explosive growth in technology based library services and large image and text digitization initiatives.
For 19 years prior to NYPL, David was a Vice President with Citibank's central technology organization working on the utilization of IT in banking services, global technology expansion, home banking, and technology/business alignment. David is a Program Mentor to the Executive Master of Science in Technology Management program at Columbia University; is on the Executive Advisory Board of NYC FIRST, an organization that helps young people develop a passion for science, engineering, technology, and math; and is on the Selection Committee for the New York Community Trust-New York Magazine Nonprofit Excellence Awards.
David holds a Bachelor of Engineering from The Cooper Union, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
