Elements of Effective Teams
The Elements of Effective Teams are:
A team relies on individual contributions.
A team needs a balance between the completion of their work with the time and effort needed to build the capacity to function well.
We are all members of lots of different teams.
Teams may be at different stages of their development and will need to focus on different aspects of team functioning.
Team development needs to be ongoing.
Teams experience changes in membership. When this happens, teams need to rebuild themselves as a team.
The Elements of Effective Teaming are:
Mission and Goals: Effective teams have a clear shared mission and well-defined goals.
Roles and Responsibilities: Teaming is critical. Teaming requires everyone involved to have a clear understanding of the strengths and skills of each team member, and who is responsible for what.
Communication and Interpersonal Relationships: Teams need to maintain ongoing communication and strong relationships.
Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Teams need strategies to address the challenges they face in their work with children and families.
Reflection/Continuous Improvement: As teams work towards their goals, they need to evaluate how they are doing and how they can do even better.
