Heather's Monthly Letter

Hello and welcome back, Room 2 families!

We hope that your winter holiday was wonderful, restful and full of all the good things that the rest of the year is sure to bring. Thank you for all of your generous gifts, well-wishes and yummy baked treats. 

Room 2 children have been talking a lot about their home days.  They have shared stories of visiting families, flying in big airplanes, going to the movies and visits from Santa.  Some of our friends are having extended vacations, we will not see Sophie until January 14th and we have not seen Tara since mid-December. 

During the vacation we welcomed a new addition to our extended Room 2 community.  Baby Milo Wood Wallach was born on Dec. 29th and Sam looks very proud to be a big brother.  We wish all the best to Paula and Josh and hope to see baby Milo when this deep chill is over. 

We are expecting another new arrival at the end of the month when Blu becomes a big sister.  Sadly, Blu will be leaving the Family Center at the beginning of February as Noleca takes time off to care for the new baby.  Blu has (and continues to be) a huge presence in Room 2.  She has an amazing sense of spirit and has been a real friend to others.  We will miss her deeply and wish the Radway family the best of luck with their new growing family.

Amy and Heather are working to start a new family in Room 2 sometime during the month of February.  We will share more information as it becomes available.

A few reminders regarding outstanding items: 
1. Pizza money.  Please check the flyer next to the hallway bulletin board to see if you owe money for December/January.  In February, Pizza Day will change to  Wednesdays.
2. Baby pictures.  We still have several baby pictures missing.  Please bring them in NEXT WEEK do that we can put our collage together.
3. Family Pictures.  Many children are using their carry around family pictures and others are requesting that their families be posted too.  If you haven't already, please send in ONE 3X5/4X6 photo of your family for us to laminate and post.

We are CLOSED on Monday, January 21st for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.  We are also CLOSED on Friday, February 1st for a Staff Development day.

We have returned to school with lots of runny noses, coughs, etc.  If possible, please keep your child at home at the beginning of a cold to help receive the extra rest, attention and love that they need while under the weather.  An extra day or two can often help to keep an illness in check and also for you to see if it develops into something more problematic.

Please send in lots of extra warm clothes for the winter months!
