The Family Center Home & Community-Based Program is an inclusion program that brings special education and therapeutic services to children in the most appropriate, least restrictive, or natural environment. This can be the home (particularly for very young children) or a general education setting. The developmental-interaction approach is the core philosophy for the home and community- based program as it is for the Family Center "center-based" program. Objectives and goals for children are set within this approach as well as by the multidisciplinary team that supports the child and family. Services for this program are determined through the evaluation process. When approved by Early Intervention (EI) or Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE), the services are then provided. Each child receives services that meet his or her specific needs and may include:
  • Transdisciplinary play-based assessment
  • CPSE Evaluations (as necessary)
  • Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT)
  • Parental involvement and conferences
  • Written reports and updates
  • Occupational therapy
  • Physical therapy
  • Speech/language therapy
  • Counseling (play therapy)
  • Parent counseling and consultation
  • Consultation to preschools
