Suggestions for Snacks

It has been an ongoing tradition in the Family Center that parents contribute a special snack item once a month to be shared by the all the children at snack time. The Family Center has a number of staples that we always have available such as: a variety of cereals, rice, oatmeal, applesauce, and various crackers and pretzels.  We also have staples for baking such as flour, sugar, salt, oils, baking powder etc. The items we welcome from parents are whole foods and fresh foods such as:

 Fruits (apples, bananas, grapes, berries, melons, etc)
 Vegetables (cucumbers, carrots(steamed for the younger children), Broccoli, Peppers, Corn etc)
 Bagels, Muffins, Breads etc.
 Yogurt, Eggs, Cottage Cheese etc.

Some parents have made soups, dumplings, guacamole or other family favorites to share with the classroom community. Please try to avoid food that are highly processed or foods with high fat, salt or sugars content.

We must know all the ingredients in the foods provided and no foods which contain nuts or nut products are permitted in the Family Center.

This is a voluntary contribution.
