Information about enrolling in Health and Dental Care policies is available in the Office of Graduate Admissions, and is sent to all students in August. We offer limited health insurance coverage only. Students are encouraged to explore alternative options for comprehensive health insurance.
Outside options for uninsured students interested in more extensive coverage include Healthy New York, a federal program designed for uninsured working individuals. Visit the Healthy New York Web site for specific information regarding eligibility and fees.
Bank Street seriously investigated the financial and logistical issues associated with offering comprehensive health insurance to graduate students. A comprehensive insurance offering would require mandatory enrollment unless a student provides proof of alternative coverage. Premiums would be billed along with tuition and other fees. The results of a recent Council of Students (COS) survey indicated students would not support mandatory enrollment and billing.
