Registration to commence an Independent Study must occur within one of the four registration periods each year as indicated below and is a process that must be done in person through the Registrar's Office. Students must also make sure to register for an Independent Study by the deadline appropriate to when they are hoping to graduate.
In recognition of the significant time involved in conducting Independent Studies, students are granted 6 credit equivalents for the term(s) in which the study is taking place. The fee for the IS is $600.
Each term a study continues beyond the initial term in which it was registered, a Continuation of Independent Study Form should be submitted to have the credit equivalents indicated on the student's record. Continuation Forms must also be submitted within one of the 4 registration periods. Continuation forms can be found on the Registrar's page of www.bankstreet.edu. Students have one year to complete the study before an additional $100 fee is charged.

Registration & Graduation Application Deadlines and Deadlines for Completing Independent Studies:
To graduate in a certain month students must adhere to the following deadlines for registering for and completing an Independent Study. Students must also officially indicate their plans to graduate by submitting a Graduation Application.
