The Writing Weekends, offered during the fall and spring terms, are designed to assist Bank Street graduate students with the development and improvement of their writing skills. These workshops are open only to Bank Street students.
Workshop content divides naturally into two strands: The Writing Process and Mechanics. Because some students prefer to focus on one area and not the other, we have set up the Writing Weekends so that students may select one or both weekends, according to perceived need.
Participants will focus on grammar, punctuation, and APA style. Topics covered will include sentence run-ons and fragments; verb tense; subject/verb agreement; commas/semicolons/colons and other punctuation; pronoun usage; possessives; parallel form; word choice; spelling; editing; and other issues as they arise.
Dates: Friday, February 8, 5:00 to 8:00 pm
AND Saturday, February 9, 9:30 to 3:00 pmInstructor: Kristin McCracken
Topics covered in this weekend will include undertaking research, generating ideas, developing a thesis statement, paragraph development, introduction and conclusions, and essay organization.
Dates: Friday, March 14, 5:00 to 8:00 pm
AND Saturday, March 15, 9:30 to 5:00 pmInstructor: Amy Sugin
These weekends are not offered for credit.
