Computing Safety

Computer Services is dedicated to providing all members of the Bank Street Street community with a safe and secure computing environment. Although Computer Services has many systems in place to block viruses, SPAM and other malicious content from entering our network we rely on user awareness and education as one of the most important aspects of our security policy.

Please take time to carefully read this website because many computer security incidents can be prevented by following the simple information below.  Additional information can be found by reading our Security Questions and Answers website.

Password Safety

  • When choosing a password,  it is important to consider a "strong password" which is one that is longer than six characters, contains letters and numbers and even capital letters.  Of course a password is useless if you forget it, but remember that using your birth date or name makes you an easy target for hackers.  We recommend that you periodically change your passwords on Email.  Network passwords are forced to routinely expire.  For information how to change passwords, please visit
