Computer Safety Do's and Don'ts

Below is a list of some suggestions that will continue to keep your computer and files safe.

DO:

• Run Critical updates when prompted
• Run Virus Updates when prompted (mac users)
• Backup your documents regularly
• Use strong passwords and change them frequently

DON'T:

• Open Email from unknown senders
• Install programs from the Internet
• Install file sharing software such as Kazaa and LimeWire
• Use obvious passwords such as your name or birthday
• Send passwords over email
• Install any network devices (ie wireless) without contacting CIS
