Position Vacancy - Accredited Program Facilitator/Staff Developer for the Quality New York project, Center for Early Childhood Professionals
 

The Center for Early Childhood Professionals (ECP), a program within the Division of Continuing Education at Bank Street College, provides a broad array of services to the early care and education community. Through research, training, and professional development, advocacy and outreach, the Center for ECP works to both address the needs of and to support the professional community that serves young children and their families.

Quality New York (QNY), a NYC-based Accreditation Facilitation Project, will be introducing the QNY Institute for NAEYC Accredited Programs. Beginning fall 2008, ECP staff will be providing training and support services for early care and education programs seeking re-accreditation from NAEYC.

 

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of the Center for Early Childhood Professionals, and working closely with the Associate Director, the Accredited Program Facilitator is responsible for coordinating all components of this new QNY initiative.  He/She:

  • Plans and conducts outreach and recruitment activities for programs seeking NAEYC re-accreditation
  • Monitors all NAEYC accredited programs in NYC to determine re-accreditation timelines; maintains database with up-to-date information
  • Reviews and selects applicants for QNY participation
  • Plans, develops and delivers weekly workshops to program staff engaged in the QNY Institute for NAEYC Accredited Programs
  • Convenes monthly meetings of the Program Administrator Support Group
  • Coaches programs through the steps of NAEYC accreditation
  • Helps programs identify internal and external resources
  • Identifies and assigns independent consultants for specific activities as needed
  • Works with partner agencies in the QNY project
  • Provides updates about QNY Institute development as well as progress of programs seeking NAEYC re-accreditation
  • Participates in writing QNY NEWS and monthly reports
  • Participates in Center for ECP staff meetings and supports additional projects as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to facilitate workshops and group discussions
  • Demonstrated ability to work with teams
  • Strong communication skills (public speaking, letter, proposal and report writing)
  • Strong computer skills including experience with excel and database

Required Qualifications:
Background in Early Childhood Education
Familiar with NAEYC accreditation
Minimum of 5 years experience in early childhood

Recommended Qualifications:
M.A. degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
Familiar with assessment tools (ECERS, ITERS, PAS, CCIS, SELA, etc.)
Program Administration experience
Worked at an early childhood center while engaged in the NAEYC accreditation process (i.e., Director, Assistant Director, teacher-in-charge)
Bilingual

 

Salary Range:       Dependent on experience
