Position Vacancy - Adjunct Instructor


Adjunct Instructor needed to teach course EDUC 604 Family, Child and Teacher Interaction in Diverse and Inclusive Educational Settings during the Summer 2 session June 27 - July 25, 2008. Course meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 - 9PM.


Responsibilities

Plan and teach Family, Child and Teacher Interaction for eight sessions that meet for 3.5 hours twice weekly. In this course, students examine the role of the teacher in the classroom to develop insight into their own professional and personal styles. The culture of the school and its influence on teachers and families is explored. The course also examines the implications of working with a multicultural community and differing family structures. Attention is given to parent conferencing, concerns of families of children with special needs, recognition of indications of child abuse and a review of the legal and moral responsibilities of classroom teachers.


Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience working within schools, and familiarity with parent and family advocacy organizations.
  • Experience teaching adults and evaluating their work.
  • Masters degree required, doctorate preferred.
