Position Vacancy - Advisor/Co-Advisor for Child Life Program
This position is designated to provide on-site supervision of fieldwork students in a variety of public and private, health care settings as well as monthly individual sessions with advisees. In addition, the Advisor is responsible for co-leading weekly small group sessions (Conference Group) with advisees throughout the academic year. Critical aspects of the role are individualized observation and feedback, facilitation of group sessions, shared analysis of professional experiences with a focus on integrating theory and practice as a child life specialist. Responsibilities
Visit fieldwork sites monthly, meet individually with each advisee twice monthly and conduct weekly conference group sessions (Wednesdays 4:45 - 6:45PM) in fall and spring semesters. Participate in monthly meetings with the Advisory Support Coordinator. S/he will also have to meet with the Program Director to review the advisement process, procedures for assessing and documenting professional growth on the part of the student, and for a general orientation to Bank Street philosophy and suggested supervision and facilitation strategies.
Qualifications
- Doctorate preferred, Master's required;
- Certified child life specialist for a minimum of three years;
- Experience in urban health care settings preferred;
- Personal transportation preferred for visitation to sites outside of Manhattan;
- Experience in supervision and/or coaching child life specialists; and,
- Experience in facilitating group discussions and/or professional development.
Start Date September 1, 2008
