Position Vacancy - Assistant Coordinator, Graduate School of Education


Responsibilities

Fieldwork placement coordinator

  • Responsible for working with program directors to coordinate and manage student teacher placements. 
  • Determine availability of student fieldwork placements, schedule placements and maintain data base.
  • Prepare and mail vouchers to cooperating teachers upon student‚s completion of course.
  • Graduate school liaison for public and private schools and NYC Department of Education recruitment and selection department. 
  • Register all student teachers in the NYCDOE‚s student teacher database prior to commencement of their fieldwork placement.


Conference coordinator (Speaker series)

  • Responsible for maintaining conference mailing list.
  • Coordinate and perform all publicity pertaining to conference, flyer and brochure production.
  • Registration coordination.
  • Organize all conference logistics, agenda, handouts, audio visual, signage, catering.
  • Collaborate closely with speaker/s regarding their travel itinerary.


Other responsibilities:

  • Assist in day-to-day administrative tasks of the graduate office.
  • Maintain vacation calendar for twelve month faculty and staff.
  • Maintain record of all courses assistants, prepare and mail assistant vouchers.
  • In conjunction with Registrar‚s office, track readers of Directed Essay.
  • Assist faculty member(s) in coordinating World Aid Days.
  • Maintain, update and distribute emergency phone chain for the graduate school. 
  • Maintain and update faculty contact database.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of two (2) years experience in higher education or non-profit. This position requires strong follow through and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Superior interpersonal skills to prioritize and coordinate a variety of tasks.
  • Excellent computer skills: Windows based applications and working knowledge of FileMaker Pro and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to handle unanticipated workload demands while maintaining flexibility.


Start Date          June 1, 2008


Salary               Commensurate with experience
