Anticipated Vacancy - Infant/Toddler Head Teacher, Family Center
Qualifications
- Master's degree in infancy, early childhood, and/or special education
- NY State Certification in special education required
- Experience working with infants, toddlers and/or young children with and without special needs
- Experience and interest in working with parents and staff
Functions and Responsibilities
Work with children: Work with 11 children in an inclusionary, mixed age group of children from 6-36 months in a day care setting.
Work with parents: Responsible for holding regular conferences with parents in addition to daily, ongoing interaction and occasional evening parent meetings. Participate in annual team meeting involving individualized family service plans for children with disabilities.
Work with staff: Responsible for the development of classroom staff, which includes one assistant teacher, one student intern, student teachers and additional part-time staff, through regularly scheduled individual and group meetings. Teacher will meet weekly with the program director for supervision meetings and have regularly scheduled meetings with children's therapists and family support coordinator.
Work with environment: Responsible for establishing a developmentally oriented environment conducive to the growth of very young children and their families. Demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of the individual needs of young children. A multi-cultural, anti-bias understanding must be reflected in the curriculum. Teacher is expected to develop a program that extends and supports a home-like environment. Develop goals for individual children, participate in IFSP & IEP development. Write daily notes to parents and daily session notes for children with disabilities. Implement Families as Partners Initiative.
Salary Dependent on experience
