The Institute for a Child Care Continuum

The Institute for a Child Care Continuum is pleased to announce the release of  Tutu & Me; Assessing the effects of a family interaction program on parents and grandparents by Toni Porter and Lee Vuong.

The Institute for a Child Care Continuum at Bank Street College of Education supports quality care for children across the child care continuum through:

  • Policy research and program evaluation
  • Program development
  • Staff training and technical assistance

Our work is guided by the notion that:

  • All children need safe and healthy environments wherever they are
  • Anyone who provides child care for children should have the knowledge and skills to support healthy development
  • Child care quality is a cumulative measure of what children experience across all settings rather than an individual measure of children's experience in a single setting

We are a team of researchers and practitioners who use our combined experience and expertise to support:

  • Child care policy makers
  • National and community organizations that are concerned about child care issues
  • Program staff
  • Children and families

The Toolkit for Evaluating Initiatives to Improve Child Care Quality is a guide for policy makers, program operators and practitioners, who want to evaluate initiatives that aim to improve child care quality. Click here to learn more about the Toolkit

The Child Care Assessment Tool for Relatives (CCAT-R) is an instrument designed to evaluate quality in child care provided by relatives. Please check out the CCAT-R Announcement for more information. If you are interested in using the CCAT-R, please check out the "Training Brochure" for more details."
