The Institute for a Child Care Continuum is pleased to announce the release of Toni Porter's paper, Assessing Initiatives for Family, Friend and Neighbor Child Care: An Overview of Models and Evaluations, which presents a description of current efforts to support and enhance home-based, regulation-exempt child care provided by family, friends, and/or neighbors, and of the documentation and evaluation of these efforts.
The Institute for a Child Care Continuum at Bank Street College of Education supports quality care for children across the child care continuum through:
- Policy research and program evaluation
- Program development
- Staff training and technical assistance
Our work is guided by the notion that:
- All children need safe and healthy environments wherever they are
- Anyone who provides child care for children should have the knowledge and skills to support healthy development
- Child care quality is a cumulative measure of what children experience across all settings rather than an individual measure of children's experience in a single setting
We are a team of researchers and practitioners who use our combined experience and expertise to support:
- Child care policy makers
- National and community organizations that are concerned about child care issues
- Program staff
- Children and families
