Our Vision and Mission

I-LEAD creates an environment that encourages individuals to transform communities by embracing personal accountability and providing opportunity for others within a global encounter that ensures a more equitable and just society.  The program provides an enriching cooperative, learning environment for scholars from select Catholic High Schools to expand and strengthen their academic skills, explore their college options and career choices within the context of civic engagement, lifelong learning and leadership.

The Program

I-LEAD is a leadership and college preparatory program that provides academic and entrepreneurial enrichment opportunities.  I-LEAD prepares students to become competitive applicants to highly selective colleges and universities by offering academically rigorous experiences, culturally enriching activities and supporting participants' social and personal development.

Over the course of the school year, scholars participate in after-school electives, Saturday classes, leadership retreats, community service projects and college tours.  During the first summer, scholars attend an intensive, residential, three-week institute.  During the following two summers, scholars travel abroad, attend college programs for high school students, enroll in leadership and community service programs, and participate in internships.

Selection Process

Each school invites up to thirty of their most highly motivated students to apply to become scholars. Students must complete an application form, write an essay, provide report cards, teacher recommendations and then participate in a formal interview with a staff member of I-LEAD.
