College ToursThe purpose of the college tours is to help students gain a sense of life on a college campus: resources available, student populations, distance from NYC, and price tags. It is also important that students learn about the admissions process and the role that each part of the application plays in determining students' admission potential. April of 2003 marked the first year we offered the college tour. The college tour was offered to the sophomores and juniors with 90 or higher GPA's. Each school visit was comprised of a tour, information session, and either lunch or a meeting with students and faculty. While some tours lasted one hour, others were shorter, therefore affording more time to meet with staff, faculty, or students. These experiences, although similar in structure, helped students to determine what they thought about different campuses with regards to atmosphere, diversity, aesthetic appeal and suitability for a four-year match. I-LEAD offers two tours each year to a chosen group of selective colleges and universities. Last year, in April of 2003, we offered a Connecticut/Massachusetts tour and an Upstate New York tour. This year we offered a southern tour to Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Maryland. We also offered a New England tour to Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. Each year the tour is 3-4 days long during the week of the students' Easter break. Listed below are the colleges and universities visited over the past two years: Connecticut & Massachusetts Tour - April 2003:
