Mission Statement
To prepare New York City public school leaders who are ethical, reflective, and collaborative and who have the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to create school environments where staff and students reach their highest potential.

Program Description

• An 18-month program leading to a master's degree in education and eligibility for New York State certification in School Building Leadership (SBL)
• Curricular approach grounded in urban school practice and theory; local, state, national standards; and the integration of content and process
• Learn to balance technical and transformative leadership, accelerate the achievement of our underserved students, and create empowering school communities
• Bank Street advisory and cohort model fosters collegial support and networking throughout the duration of the program and beyond
• Accredited by RATE (Regents Accreditation of Teacher Education)
• Partial scholarship provided

Requirements

• Evidence of at least three years of satisfactory teaching experience
• A commitment to the improved education of all students
• Strong interest in becoming a school leader

Students are supported by a Bank Street advisor in a variety of activities including a school-based internship, conference groups and onsite meetings. Bank Street advisors work with mentor principals to ensure that the individual needs of each intern are met and work with interns to process the internship experience. The mentor principal supports the intern through a developmental learning experience and thoughtfully assesses the intern's growth.

We are currently recruiting for two cohorts. The Citywide Cohort and the NYC Department of Education Leadership Learning Support Organization (LLSO) Cohort. Both will begin coursework in September 2008. If you would like to apply, please select the link below and download the application.
