The Learning Clinic

learningclinic.jpg:
The Clinic provides intensive remediation to 5th and 6th grade students struggling with literacy and aims to bring them to grade level after two years. Early difficulties with reading and writing and stalled language development are major predictors of student failure. Students fall behind, lose motivation, and become a high risk for dropping out - not unlike the older students we traditionally serve. The Clinic intervenes by providing assessments, group and individual tutoring, therapeutic strategies, advocacy for children and families, and a summer program. The program is taught by Bank Street graduate students and focuses on basic math, spelling, reading, and writing skills. Parent workshops help guardians understand how their children's neurodevelopmental strengths and weaknesses manifest.
