Teachers: Through the Eyes of Cinema

What better way to round out the school year than sharing popcorn and a film with your friends and colleagues?

New Perspectives is launching a film and discussion series to look at the movies that have shaped our images of students, schools, and the teaching profession. Whether overly idealized or dystopian, realistic or stylized, inspirational or informative, movies have permeated our culture and may have shaped some of our life and career choices. Each film will begin with an introduction to its historical and thematic context and be followed by a discussion led by your favorite instructors.

Admission for each event is $5. Events will take place at Bank Street College, 610 W 112th Street.

Facilitated by Emily White.

In the 'doc' comedy style of "The Office" and "Best in Show", CHALK pulls you into the frenetic and awkwardly painful journey of three novice teachers as they navigate one memorable school year. (Rated PG-13 for some language).
