BANK STREET COLLEGE APPOINTS JEFFREY MCCARTNEY TO DIRECTOR OF PUBLICATIONS & MEDIA GROUP

New York, July 6, 2004--Bank Street College of Education announces the appointment of Jeffrey McCartney as Director of its Publications & Media Group (P&MG). P&MG furthers the Bank Street mission to improve the education of children and their teachers by partnering with publishers, new media companies, and television producers to create educational materials for children, teachers, and parents.

As Director, Mr. McCartney will oversee the Group's publishing, product development, and licensing initiatives. For the past ten years, he has specialized in nonprofit educational product development and licensing; he also has a background as a publisher and literary agent.

Among P&MG's critically acclaimed and prize-winning products are The Voyage of the Mimi TV series, the Bank Street Readers series, and the 72-book Ready-to-Read series. Recent collaborations include Jojo's Circus, a pre-school interactive television show; pre-kindergarten and kindergarten educational materials with Macmillan/McGraw-Hill; and teacher curriculum guides with Scholastic.

Bank Street College of Education, founded in 1916, is an internationally recognized leader in early childhood, childhood, and adolescent education. It is a pioneer in improving the quality of classroom education, and is a national advocate for children and families.
