ONLINE BOOK TALK
Are you interested in being part of a small group of colleagues where talking to learn is possible without worrying about a final grade? Then, join the Online Book Talk, a small peer discussion group of Bank Street graduates and soon-to-be graduates.
The group will read and discuss the provocative writings of Amanda E. Lewis (2003) in Race in the Schoolyard: Negotiating the Color Line in Classrooms and Communities. The focus of the online talk is to open pathways of critical thinking about elements and issues of social justice, and how these can impact our teaching and learning practices in independent and public school communities.
How will we do this? There will be four scheduled sessions of online focused talk, two posted in May and two in June. A fifth June session will take place at Bank Street for a final meeting of the minds of all of our peer discussion group participants.
What is needed? You will need access to a computer and the Web, and a commitment to engage with the group members for five sessions.
Books will be provided. No purchase necessary.
ONLINE BOOK TALK is open to Bank Street graduates as well as those who are close to graduation.
ONLINE BOOK TALK will be facilitated by Bank Street Graduate School faculty member Diana-Elena Matsoukas. For more information or to sign up for the group, please contact Diana-Elena at dmatsoukas@bankstreet.edu or (212) 875-4616.
