Teacher Talk: Challenges and Opportunities in Under-Resourced Schools
Are you a new or experienced teacher in an under-resourced school? Would you like to join colleagues in an honest discussion of your concerns and successes? This new peer discussion group will focus on finding ways to feel like an effective teacher in a sometimes challenging environment. At the first get-together, participants will decide upon the focus and direction of subsequent gatherings.
TEACHER TALK is open to all Bank Street graduates and soon-to-be-graduates who are currently working in under-resourced schools. There will be a mix of new and more experienced teachers, with the goal of learning from one another≠s experiences.
The first get-together will be co-sponsored with the Bank Street/Region 9 P4Q Partnership, and will be held in January at a school in the Bronx. Three other gatherings will be held at locations and on a schedule determined by participants, and an additional June session will take place at Bank Street for a final meeting of the minds of all of our peer discussion group participants.
TEACHER TALK will be facilitated by Bank Street Graduate School faculty member Barbara Stern, in collaboration with Ann LoBianco, Director of the Region 9 P4Q Partnership. For additional information or to sign up for the group, contact Barbara at bstern@bankstreet.edu or (212) 875-4601.
