Physical Plant: Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I make a room reservation?
To make room reservations you must contact Ms. Sabrina Harris @ 212-875-4560.

Note: Room reservations must be done before you submit any paperwork for room set-up. Download the two PDFs to begin this process: Room Reservations: Form A, and Room Set-Up: Form D.

2.  How do I submit work request?
In order to submit a work request you must submit a work request form (use form B, available at Plant Office) via interoffice to Daniel Benchimol. Please use the proper form to submit any any work request and do not request any work via calls, personal contact, or on a plain piece of paper. You can also fill out on online work request by clicking here.

3. How do I report theft or someone suspicious?
Please call extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM) or 875-4411 or 961- 3300, to report anyone suspicious or to report a theft. Thefts can also be reported via e-mail to Lesly Pierre (lpierre@bnkst.edu), Daniel Benchimol (dbenchimol@bnkst.edu) or Ruth lsbell (risbell@bnkst.edu). 4. What do I do if I observe a dangerous situation?
Please call Security at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM) or speak with anyone in the Physical Plant department in person.

5.  How do I request a security ID card?
The Human Resources Office is responsible for contacting Physical Plant with any changes to the personnel roster, i.e. new hires, terminations, etc. A Jenzabar/CARS ID number must accompany any changes.

REPLACEMENT OF LOST /DAMAGED CARDS:
If the ID picture fades, it will be replaced at no cost to the individual.

All other replacement cards cost $5.00. However, children in the Children’s Program and Liberty LEADS will have their second card replaced at no cost and $5 will be charged for the third card. You must make your payment in the Business Office, SFC Administration Office, or at the Security Desk. Upon presenting a receipt, a new card can be re-issued.

FORGOTTEN CARDS
If a student, parent, or guardian has forgotten their ID card, the security officer will for the person's name and search the database for that individual or refer to a program roster. Once the person has been identified as a member of the Bank Street community, then the security guard writes the individuals’ name in the guest book. If this is a persistent problem, then the appropriate divisional administrator is to be notified.

6. How do I obtain after-hours access?
In order to access the main building after hours you must first obtain permission from Security so that you are added to the panel. Once you reach the building it is only a matter of presenting your card to the card reader on the side doors. At MSM, you must have your Security ID card and the alarm code, if necessary.

7. How do I report a hot/cold call complaint?
You must contact the Security desk at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM). The guard will contact the technician that will address the matter.

8. How do I use inter-building courier service?
All materials that are to be transported from one building to another must be at central services in the main building, or by the guards desk area at MSM prior to 11 AM for AM delivery, or 2PM for PM delivery.

9. Are special events chargeable to the requesting departments and program area?
Yes, the requesting department is charged for catering services, security services or any other services that require a staff person to work during hours outside of their schedule.

10.What do I do in case of fire?

11 .Where are the emergency exits?
On the east and west sides of the main building on each floor. At MSM, there are two emergency exits, one near the Broadway side of the building and one directly across from the elevator.

12. Is there a lost and found department?
Please report any lost items to Security at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM). If you find an item, please bring it to the guard.

13. Must I wear the college ID at all times?
It is imperative that everone wears their college ID at all times.  No one is excused.  Please understand that this procedure is for your safety.

14. If I have visitors, what should we expect?
Please call the guard at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM) when you are expecting a visitor. When thevisitor arrives, the guard will contact you for further instructions as to where your visitor should meet you.

15. If I observe an emergency (fire, flood, theft) what do I do?
Please report any fire, flood, theft, or other incident to the guard's desk at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM).

16. If I am injured or witness someone get injured, what do I do?
Please contact the guard's desk at extension 4411 or 3300 (MSM) and they will send the proper aid to assist the injured person.

17. Do I need to report the presence of a visitor with mobility and visual impairments to anyone in the college? Why?
This should be reported to anyone that will be in contact with the individual.

18. Does the college recycle?
Yes the college does recycle. Read our recycling policy here.
