Dear Friends: Bienvenidos. Welcome to our forum for staff-at-large to provide updates on projects, events and resources. Each week you will have the opportunity to share your updates in an easy to use, consolidated format by emailing the information to: staffcouncil@bankstreet.edu (Submission deadline Tuesdays 5:00 p.m.) We've been on hiatus for a number of weeks due to competing demands. Staff Council News:

  • The next Staff Council meeting will take place on Monday, April 7th from 3:30-5:00 pm. Please note that this meeting will take place in Bank Street North. in room 219. Be sure to let your reps know what's on your mind. You review minutes from past staff council meetings at www.bankstreet.edu/stcouncil/minutes
  • Please join us in welcoming our latest SC Reps: Deondra Drumgold, F&A; and Alvin Irby, CP. We are proud to report that out of a possible 30 SC Rep spots, we have 27 filled, that is a 90% participation rate! Not sure who your reps are? Go to: www.bankstreet.edu/stcouncil/members.
  • Diversity Committee Event: Join actors and staff from the renowned American Place Theater for performance, dialogue and group activities based on Richard Wright's Black Boy.   • Environmental Advocacy: Earth Hour 2008! Take a stand on global warming with communities around the world by turning off all lights and unnecessary appliances on Saturday March 29th at 8:00 PM.   • Inaugural Film Festival! What better way to round out the school year than sharing popcorn and a film with your friends and colleagues? Staff Council is proud to co-sponsor Teachers Through the Eyes of Cinema: A ground-breaking film series produced by New Perspectives with CIS and the Library.

International Teacher Research Conference March 28th & 29th at 112th Street Campus!

The ICRC is a small conference that occurs before or after AERA to improve the learning opportunities of  all children by activating and extending the voices of teacher researchers and their students. This year's theme, Combining Voices: Building a Teacher Research Community will be addressed by major speakers including Vivian Paley, U.S.A.(Bank Street Honorary Doctorate recipient and MacArthur Foundation awardee); Jack Whitehead, Great Britain; Ian Mitchell, Australia & a distinguished guest panel.
