Bank Street Celebration

Annual Dinner 2020

“Reimagining Math Education”

We hope you and your family and friends are healthy and safe during this time.

Given the circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the 2020 Annual Dinner has been canceled. While we are disappointed that we will not be able to share this important evening with you, we are deeply grateful for your support of Bank Street today and always.

As our city and nation face this time of crisis, we hope you will still consider a fully tax-deductible donation to Bank Street in lieu of our Annual Dinner. We look forward to a time when we can come together again to celebrate Bank Street and our entire community.

  • Reimagining Math Education

Teacher and student doing math exercise at tableEarly math skills are the most powerful predictor of later learning, predicting not just future math achievement, but future high-school completion and college attendance. Our country’s math education system, however, continues to fail many of our nation’s students, particularly low-income students and students of color, who consequently struggle to master fundamental mathematics and the conceptual math skills that build upon them.

This year, the Bank Street Annual Dinner will raise funds to benefit the education of all children with a special focus on addressing equity gaps within math education so all students can graduate high school, pursue postsecondary education, and lead lives with purpose.

At Bank Street, we understand how to develop math educators able to create the equitable and rigorous learning environments that all students deserve. Increasing our country’s access to the Bank Street approach to teaching and learning will help students build the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century, STEAM-based economy, such as critical thinking and creative problem solving, agility and adaptability, abstract thinking and analysis, and communication and collaboration.
