Honoring Lynn Straus
This year, we celebrate Lynn Straus, GS ’57, for more than 25 years of service as a trustee and her leadership as Vice Chair of the Board.
After graduating from Bank Street, teaching first grade, and starting a family, Lynn helped to found and then direct the preschool program that became a model for the national Head Start program and grew into one of the first New York State Experimental Pre-Kindergarten Programs. She remains a passionate advocate for and generous patron of quality early childhood education programs, especially those benefiting the youngest children and meeting the needs of children and families in under-served communities.
About the Dinner
Every year, the Board of Trustees invites colleagues and new friends of the College to come together in celebration of Bank Street's contributions to the world of education.
The dinner directly supports Bank Street's mission to improve the education of all children and their teachers. With education reform at the forefront of regional and national policy debates, Bank Street's steadfast advocacy of progressive approaches to teacher preparation has never been more important.
Funds raised from the Trustees' Dinner provide unrestricted support to the College to be used where most needed.
