Curriculum
Guiding Principles
- Your work with children is based on knowledge of child development, and especially the interdependence of social, emotional, physical and intellectual domains of growth.
- You learn about your particular children through observation and recording, through children's works or products, through children's families, and through others who have worked with them.
- You create a physical environment for children that encourages their active participation in their own learning.
- You create a social/emotional environment that encourages a sense of community and of the value of each individual in the community. Explorations with Young Children, p. 10
These principles inform the way you set up your room, how you greet children and their families, how you develop your curriculum in response to children's growing developmental needs and how you assess their growth.
