The Universal Pre-K Staff
The most critical people in a quality pre-K program are the staff who work with your child. Each Universal Pre-K classroom should have a certified lead teacher and one assistant teacher. Additional trained staff may be on-site to support children with special needs.
- Does the staff make you and your child feel welcome?
- Do they help you have a healthy separation from your child when it is time to say good-bye each morning?
- Do they show an interest in your child by asking him or her special questions or by working with your child in a particular
- Do they show interest and respect for you and your cultural background? Does the staff show interest in getting your help in communicating about your cultural background?
- Are they knowledgeable in the area of early childhood education?
By observing, asking questions, and by enlisting the support of the Pre-K staff, you will become your child's best advocate. By building a partnership with the Universal Pre-K program, you will help your child to have a successful year.
