Position Vacancy - Warehouse Manager


Reporting to the General Manager, Warehouse Manager is responsible for fulfilling customer orders. This includes liaising with customers and vendors, and managing all staff for receiving, packing and timely delivery of merchandise. Administers the training, scheduling and supervision of all staff. Performs related duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages all aspects of receiving, packing and shipping/delivery processes, maintaining both pace and accuracy among staff.
  • Responsible for workplace safety and enforcement of OSHA and internal regulations.
  • Oversees the receiving of all orders into itemized inventory, verifying accurate cost records and compensation for damaged/defective/unshipped merchandise.
  • Maintains working knowledge of institutional clients’ packing and shipping requirements. Manages the packing of product according to specifications. Is responsible for any customer service issues or complaints.
  • Communicates with customers to set up delivery dates, times, locations. Determines the most cost-effective, efficient means of delivery and/or shipping for each order. Manages third-party delivery service providers.
  • Creates returns and annual inventory to increase profit and report to business office.
  • Regularly inventories and reports on all necessary warehouse supplies.
  • Assists General Manager with staffing decisions and disciplinary action.
  • Administers the training, scheduling and supervision of all staff. Enforces organization-wide workplace policy.
  • Assists with related matters as needed, including driving for deliveries when necessary.


Education and/or Experience: Minimum of three (3) years wholesale management or related experience. Exceptional knowledge of children's book industry. Must have clean NYS driver’s license and professional driving experience.

Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word required. Experience using inventory/POS systems and relational databases a plus.

Language Skills: Must possess good oral and written communication skills and be able to work with a variety of College staff and constituents. Ability to express ideas effectively and concisely.
