Position Vacancy - Instructor, Cooking Chef - Middle School and High School After School/Saturday

When: October 2017 – May 2018

Liberty LEADS is seeking qualified instructor to work with high school groups. The participants will be immerse in the vast and diverse world of the culinary arts; learning the cultures of the world through food. Participants should also learn the basics of nutrition, and healthy eating.

The Liberty LEADS Program at Bank Street College is an after-school college access and college success program serving students throughout New York City. We offer a comprehensive academic program and a wide range of resources for students in grades 5 through 12, Monday through Saturday, for 11 months of the year. Liberty LEADS works to ensure that youth with few economic resources have access to the supports necessary to realize their potential, make positive contributions to society, and smoothly make the transition into college or an entry-level career. The program is guided by the principle that all children have gifts, talents, and great potential and can contribute to one another's social and academic growth.

Responsibilities:

● Create and implement curriculum
● Engage students and differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students
● Manage classroom using positive behavior management strategies
● Provide ongoing academic support to students
● Meet regularly with the Liberty LEADS Advisor for supervision and debriefing

Qualifications:

● A strong background in basic culinary principles is required
● 5+ years experience in teaching culinary arts
● Must possess strong communication skills and knowledge of group development
● Experience working high school youth and knowledge of child development
