Position Vacancy - Faculty Position, Educational Leadership

Bank Street College, Graduate School of Education is seeking a full-time faculty member for the Leadership Department. This position includes serving as the program director for the Future School Leaders Academy and as a course instructor across a range of leadership programs.


• Teaching graduate level courses in educational leadership development
Courses may include:
Foundations of Educational Leadership: Organizational Development - This course examines theory, research, and practice concerning organizational development.
Research for Educational Change - This course is designed to enable leaders to be effective consumers of research, as well as to plan and carry out research in response to specific educational questions.
Course instruction is based on the experience and knowledge of the faculty member and the needs of the program. Instruction will take place at the Bank Street campus in Manhattan and the FSLA campus in Yorktown Heights, NY.
• Program director for the Future School Leaders Academy (See detailed responsibilities below)
• Attending all program, departmental and divisional meetings
• Providing service to the college community through participation on committees and special events


• Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred
• Minimum of 5 years experience as a school building leader/ district leader
• Successful previous experience with college/graduate school teaching
• Experience in working with school-based and district leadership
• Experience in educational research and inquiry practices
• Knowledgeable in public policy in education

Bank Street Program Director for FSLA Program

The Future School Leaders Academy program prepares individuals for school and district leadership roles in Westchester and Putnam county school districts. Through a longstanding partnership with Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES, Bank Street College elicits nominations of candidates with outstanding leadership potential from district leaders. Candidates take courses primarily on the BOCES campus in Yorktown Heights and do supervised fieldwork in their own schools and district offices.

Program Director Responsibilities:
The FSLA program director will work as a co-director with the leadership representative from the Center for Educational Leadership of Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES. The program director will repost to the chair of the Leadership Department at Bank Street College.

The responsibilities of the FSLA program director includes: engaging in outreach, recruitment, and admission procedures; providing academic support and guidance for students and advisors; coordinating supervised fieldwork; ensuring the effectiveness of the program; maintaining and developing regional relationships; supporting instructional staff; planning and facilitating the FSLA Advisory meetings.
