Position Vacancy - Dishwasher


Bank Street is seeking to hire a Dishwasher. The dishwasher will be responsible for washing various pots and utensils, putting away stock in the morning as it arrives, handling the trash, compost, and recycling for the kitchen, and performing other kitchen tasks as needed while maintaining high levels of cleanliness, sanitation, and production while performing all related work.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes throughout shift.
• Put away stock as it arrives throughout the day, labeling and dating as appropriate.
• Organize cooler and dry storage, including using proper product rotation procedures.
• Clean floors and racks in cooler, dry storage, and dish station as needed
• Pick up catering events throughout the building as needed.
• Handle removal of trash, compost, and recycling as needed.
• Communicates effectively with other staff members.
• Maintains professional and friendly manner while dealing with students, staff, and guests.
• Adheres to state and local health and safety regulations.
• Keeps work station clean and maintains all sanitation standards.
• Cleans and sanitizes station throughout the shift.
• Ensures that work station and equipment are clean and sanitary.
• Follows all safety procedures for operating and cleaning all machinery at all times.
• Handles additional tasks as requested by Chef and Sous Chef.

Required Qualifications

• 3 years of professional work experience
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must become familiar with and work with all kitchen equipment and machinery.
• Must be self-motivated and customer service oriented.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and oral communication skills.
• Reliable and predictable attendance.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Possesses good oral communication skills and able to work with a variety of staff and constituents.
• Adheres to Policy and Procedures.
• Maintains a positive and respectful attitude while working with other team members.
• Communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues as they arise.
• Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management as well as ability to prioritize workload.
• Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position.
• Strong service orientation when interacting with others in and out of the College.
• Meets departmental productivity standards.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
