Focus on : Grades 2-5
Course Number: TEWS736N

The world moves forward – and so does writer's workshop! Learn the latest research and thinking on how to explicitly build growth mindset, self-regulation, and strategies so students can even more easily and effectively communicate their ideas in writing in ways that can help make the world a better place.  Use cutting edge evidence-based practices to help students internalize the writing process, reflect on their writing performance, and set goals for continued growth. Apply the gradual release process as students learn to mine mentor texts and use writing memory aids, scaffolds, self-created graphic organizers, collaborative learning, self-monitoring, and peer feedback to help them become skilled writers and skilled critical thinkers. This personalized approach is not a program but a pedagogy that can be woven into whatever instructional programs you use, or a balanced literacy approach.
