Frequently Asked Questions:
Bank Street Family Center playgroups offer a unique opportunity for infants and toddlers to engage in early social, emotional, and developmentally appropriate play in the company of their peers with the participation of their parents and caregivers in a class facilitated by master’s level teachers. There is both a My Grownup & Me! Baby group and toddler groups, serving children from 2 months through 3 years old. Our Developmental Variations group supports families of young children with special needs.
My Grownup & Me!
In the company of their peers and parents or caregivers, children explore a variety of materials within a play-based environment, that engage their senses and ignite their curiosity. The groups are facilitated by an early childhood educator and a social worker who have extensive experience in infant-toddler development and family support. Contact Gabrielle Felman and Sarah Piel at firstname.lastname@example.org for scheduling and availability.
This group provides both parents and children the opportunity to engage in play-based experiences that support each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive learning. Parents also have the time and space to meet alone with other parents—with the support of a social worker—to voice their thoughts and feelings and to share resources as they navigate specific challenges. This group is exclusively for children receiving early intervention services either privately or through the Department of Health.
