Community Walk for Kindness, Respect & Justice
We invite you to join us in a Community Walk for Kindness, Respect, & Promise
on Friday, January 20th at 3:45 PM.
Participants from Bank Street, The Cathedral School and The School at Columbia will meet on the west side of Amsterdam Avenue at 112th Street at 3:45 PM. Each group will depart from its own school at 3:30 PM in order to travel to the meeting point. Once together, we will walk north to 114th and Amsterdam, turn left toward Broadway, walk south on Broadway to 112th Street, and then east and back toward Amsterdam Avenue. The walk will conclude at approximately 4:30 PM inside the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. There we will unite our voices in song for an affirmation of kindness, respect, and promise for all people. Together, our voices can make a difference.
The walk is open to everyone in our school communities; however, all students must be accompanied and supervised by a parent or other caregiver. Participants are invited to create signs reflecting the purpose of this walk by completing phrases such as “I Dream Of…,” “I Stand For…,” or “I Believe In….” Students may make the signs at home, but they also will have the opportunity to work on signs in school (stay tuned for additional details). Please note that this is decidedly not a political event but rather an opportunity for three schools with different missions and representing more than one thousand families to express our shared commitment to the ideals of kindness, respect, and promise.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org in order to RSVP for this important event. Please include your name and the name of the child or children for whom you will be responsible.
