Liberty LEADS is centered on the ability to get students to re-engage and remain engaged in their education, to broaden their goals for the future, and to establish relationships with supportive adults. Students not only leave Liberty LEADS as high school graduates prepared to enter the next phase of their lives with the skills necessary to succeed, they also recognize their roles and responsibilities as change agents in their communities.
After School/Saturday Programming: Six days a week, between October and May, Liberty LEADS offers classes that provide academic, social, and emotional support. The program creates a space where students are challenged to think critically therefore preparing them for college and/or the workforce.
Summer Programming: Liberty LEADS has four internal summer programs that engage youth in leadership and academic enrichment activities once the school year is over. Once students have completed our internal programs, we help them apply to study abroad, leadership and community service summer opportunities.
College Preparation Programming: In order to minimize the achievement gap, Liberty LEADS offers resources that help student with SAT prep, essay writing, transition to college, college application, and FAFSA forms. The program also provides 11th graders with a three to four day college tour.
Alumni Programming: Liberty LEADS’ relationship with each student does not end after the completion of high school. The program makes sure that every young adult is successful transitioning into college or the workforce. We do this by providing an alumni advisor who acts as a resource and mentor to each student after they graduate from the program.
