Biographical Note
Doris B. Wallace studied at the Royal College of Music in London, University of Edinburgh, City University of New York and Rutgers University. She received her BA in Psychology from CUNY in 1975 and an MA (1978) and PhD (1982) from Rutgers University. In 1959, she came to Bank Street as Assistant to the Director of Research. Throughout her tenure at Bank Street, Wallace served in a number of roles in the Research Division, including Coordinator of the Head Start Evaluation and Research Center and Senior Research Associate.
Scope and Content Note
This collection documents Doris Wallace’s work as a member of the Research Division between 1959 and 1984. Included is documentation of Wallace’s early work in the Department as administrative assistant, data analyst, and editorial assistant for the Psychological Impact of School Experience Study; her work as coordinator and supervisor of Head Start Evaluation, and her research studies on family and the community. In addition, this collection includes Wallace’s papers from her active role as a staff representative on various College governance committees.
