Summer Camp

Flexible, fun options.

Bank Street Summer Camp uses educational professionals and recreational learning to create developmentally focused programs and experiences that are open to any children entering pre-kindergarten through eighth grade (ages 4 to 13), including children outside of the Bank Street School for Children program.

Bank Street Summer Camp runs from 8:30 AM – 3:15 PM and this year, we have created two-week sessions which we hope will help families plan their summer. Families can also now select After Camp options until 5:45 PM.

Each day, campers will participate in specialized activities that explore a range of topics, such as Spanish, theater, or STEAM, led by education professionals. Campers will also swim twice a week and go on weekly field trips. Snack is provided daily and lunch is available for an additional fee through the Butter Beans Kitchen, who also provides lunch for the School for Children

As part of Children’s Programs at Bank Street, each camp group is located in its own air-conditioned classroom complete with a variety of developmentally appropriate materials. Campers use the outdoor deck as well as the nearby fields and playgrounds located just half a block away in Riverside Park. More information about our facilities can be found in the School for Children’s Virtual Tour, accessible below.

Bank Street Summer Camp is located at 610 West 112th Street. Some families walk or bike to camp, some drive, and many make use of the nearby 1 Train stop at 110th Street or the convenient M104 and M60 public bus routes.

Where recreation enriches…

  • Community

Many summer programs operate under what is known as a “progressive” philosophy but few have an approach like the Bank Street School for Children. Our campers build their sense of community every day as they interact with their friends and peers and develop important social-emotional skills.

    Our Approach

  • Social Justice and Equity

Social justice and equity are important parts of every program at the Bank Street School for Children. At the Summer Camp, staff members follow the same language and approach to instill positive identity development in our campers and a respect and appreciation for the identities of those around them.

    Social Justice and Equity

  • Leadership

Our staff members develop powerful bonds with campers that last for years. Many campers eventually become staff members themselves and work alongside the counselors they once had. Head Counselors are teachers during the year, often with graduate degrees.

  • Joy

Learning should be joyful, and Bank Street campers are consistently engaged in programming that sparks their interests and curiosities.

  • Play

Children need time, practice, and a safe environment to connect with themselves and each other. Bank Street College has spent one hundred years making these goals a reality and the Bank Street Summer Camp has continued this tradition in a recreational summer setting.

  • Courage & Confidence

Summer Camp provides a safe atmosphere where children feel encouraged to step out of their comfort zone and try new things like sports, theater, and coding, among others.

WHAT CAMP GUARDIANS SAY
Our son enjoyed the weekly trips and looked forward to them. (He) loved the Friday assemblies and popsicles, and he loved taking the school bus to swimming and other field trips. The pop-ups were a hit, too.
