Early math skills are the most powerful predictor of later learning, predicting not just future math achievement, but future high-school completion and college attendance. Our country’s math education system, however, continues to fail many of our nation’s students, particularly low-income students and students of color, who consequently struggle to master fundamental mathematics and the conceptual math skills that build upon them.
This year, the Bank Street Annual Dinner will raise funds to benefit the education of all children with a special focus on addressing equity gaps within math education so all students can graduate high school, pursue postsecondary education, and lead lives with purpose.
At Bank Street, we understand how to develop math educators able to create the equitable and rigorous learning environments that all students deserve. Increasing our country’s access to the Bank Street approach to teaching and learning will help students build the skills needed to thrive in the 21st century, STEAM-based economy, such as critical thinking and creative problem solving, agility and adaptability, abstract thinking and analysis, and communication and collaboration.
We hope you join us at this year’s annual dinner to support Bank Street’s work as we work toward equitable education for all. Purchase a table today and help us build a stronger tomorrow for all.
