Meet Our Supervisory Staff

Camp Director

CookieIn her nineteenth year as Camp Director, Cookie Mellitz, brings both her five years of experience as the camp Aquatics Director and fourteen years of experience as a Physical Education teacher at the Bank Street School for Children. She directed the 13's Musical Theater Production for 10 years. She is a dancer, choreographer and free-lance lighting designer. Cookie previously taught Literacy Through Theater, a course in New Perspectives within Bank Street College and has been instrumental in the creation of the After School and Summer Camp Leadership Certificate. Cookie received her M.S. in Education from the Bank Street College in Educational Leadership. She is certified in RTE, CPR, Lifeguarding, and WSI. As well she is a lifeguard instructor prior to Bank Street, Cookie directed a teen travel camp in New Jersey, ran a 6-week travel camp in Israel, and served as the Creative Arts Director of a summer camp in the Boston area. Her dedication to the camp program came from her positive experiences as a camper and counselor in an overnight camp in Connecticut.


Associate Director of Summer Camp Operations and Communications

DylanDylan Morgan has worked at the Bank Street Summer Camp for the past fifteen years. He was a camper at Bank Street for six years and a camper at the Hidden Valley Camp for three. Upon graduating from the School for Children he became an LIT (Leader In Training) for the Musical Theater program and soon became a Head Counselor when he developed the Film Writing and Directing program, the Animation program and the Photography After Camp. He graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, where he concentrated on Film and History. This is his seventh year in camp administration. 


Assistant Director of Finance and Administration

IfeIfe Collymore has worked at the Bank Street Summer Camp for the past sixteen years and has worked in the Camp Administration for the past six years. Ife is a Bank Street School for Children Alum and received her Bachelor's Degree in English Arts from Hampton University. She was a Substitute Teacher’s Assistant for Sara, Evi, and Oliva’s 6/7’s. Ife is certified in CPR and RTE. For a number of years, she was an Aquatics LIT and Junior Counselor for the Sports group at the Bank Street Summer Camp. 


Lower Camp Unit Head

ArmandoArmando Lopez earned a Master degree in Bilingual Childhood General Education from Bank Street in 2012. Previously, he worked as a mechanical engineer in Mexico and the US for six years. Upon graduation from Bank Street, he joined the dual language staff at PS 75, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and this is his fifth year teaching first grade in the dual-language program at the school. He also heads up the technology committee which has implemented current technology methods into the classroom. During the summer, Armando worked at Bank Street as a counselor in the lower, and Travel camps in the Spanish immersion program for a number of years and is been beloved by all campers and parents.

Upper Camp Unit Head

This summer, Adam Bouley will be the Upper Camp Unit Head. Adam has been a theater counselor for four years, but this past summer he was the Coordinator of the Leadership Development Program, during which time he mentored our oldest campers into possible counselors. For the past three years, Adam has taught at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City, where he teaches English and Theater. Previously, Adam taught English, Social Studies and Theater for four years at St. Ignatius School in the South Bronx. 

Aquatics Director

MarcAnthony Gonzalez graduated from the College of Mount Saint Vincent with a B.S in Business. He started at Bank Street as a camper and later began working for the College at the Family Center and soon started working for the Summer Camp. In addition to being a swim instructor throughout the year, MarcAnthony has been pursuing a law degree while working as a paraprofessional for the New York City Department of Education for the past 3 years. He received a new position as Student Support Specialist for P.S 191 Museum Magnet School. MarcAnthony has worked in the aquatics field for the past 10 years because he loves seeing the joy kids get from acquiring a new skill. He feels that helping children overcome their fears, challenge themselves, and assisting them to reaching their goals in the water is dream come true. He looks forward to continuing to creating amazing memories that will impact a camper’s life forever!

After Camp Unit Head

Rociel 'Ro' Pena graduated from Bates College in 2014. She is currently working as a Mid Day Teacher for Evi's 6/7s at Bank Street. This will be her second year working at camp, and she is elated to see all the fun that this summer will bring. Last year, she worked as the After Camp assistant, and looks forward to working After Camp this summer as the Coordinator.

Program Coordinator

Becca Baye is very excited to return to Bank Street Summer Day Camp! This will be her second summer at Bank Street. Last year she was a Head Counselor for the Bank Street on Wheels program and has been both a camper and counselor at other camps since she was 4 years old. She even spent 13 summers away at sleep away camp in Pennsylvania. During the school year, she is a First Grade Teacher in West Harlem. She taught Kindergarten for three years and studied at Indiana University  before going to Hunter College for her masters degree. She is currently getting a second masters degree in Special Education at Hunter College. Supervised by Assistant Director.


Camper Support Coordinator

Nancy Ireland began as a SEIT in June 2011.  She got her degree in 2010 and then worked as a Special Education teacher in a center based program the summer of 2010. This summer she is responsible for accommodating social, emotional and behavioral differences in camp. The Camper Support Coordinator may be asked to sit in on a class and asses the needs of a particular camper and/or help the counselor come up with an approach. Supervised by Camp Director.


Spanish Immersion Coordinator

Shuber Naranjo is a Hunter College graduate with a Master of Bilingual Ed. degree, and is in charge of the Summer Camp Spanish Immersion programs. He worked at La Escuelita pre-school for four years, with children ages 2 thru 5. This is Shuber's fifth year teaching at Bank Street as a Spanish teacher in the Lower and Middle School.
