Daniel Ferguson, MA (Oxon), is a senior policy associate at the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP) within the Straus Institute for Thriving Children & Families, where his research focuses on infant-early childhood mental health policy.
He is co-leading an analysis of the systems of social-emotional-focused supports for early care and education programs in Delaware, Maine, and New York, and technical assistance to strengthen these systems based on results. He co-led the PRiSM project, which developed profiles of state infant-early childhood mental health initiatives and policies. He supported work on 50-state surveys of infant-early childhood mental health policies in Medicaid and Part C Early Intervention. He has provided technical assistance to state policymakers and advocates on improving supports for infant-early childhood mental health in key early childhood systems and programs (e.g., Part C early intervention, early care and education, parenting programs) and on policies and strategies to reduce expulsion and suspension in early care and education programs.
Daniel has worked on early childhood policy issues at the NCCP since 2003. He received his degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford.
