Emily J. Jones is the Deputy Director of the Center on Culture, Race & Equity and Director of the New York State Education Department’s Technical Assistance Partnership for Equity (TAP Equity). Emily holds a PhD in Education Policy from Rutgers University, an MS in Elementary Education from Mercy College, and a BA in Economics from Spelman College.  Emily’s research interests include using Critical Race Theory to examine the lasting effects of America’s school racial desegregation efforts, and the influence that race, racism, and identity continue to have on the culture of American schools. Prior to joining CCRE, Emily was a Senior Project Associate with the Technical Assistance Center on Disproportionality (TAC-D) at New York University’s Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools (Metro Center).  Emily was a Special Education Consultant with Newark Public Schools, an Adjunct Professor at the City College of the City University of New York (CUNY), and a Special Education Teacher Trainer and Coach while at CUNY and Rutgers.  Emily still believes her most complicated and critical work was as a Special Education teacher in the Citywide District 75 for the New York City Department of Education.
