Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Conference 2025
“Roots of Connection: Strategies for Co-Regulation, Processing, and Team Collaboration”
Description:
Join us for our annual Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Conference hosted by the Bank Street Family Center. This year, we will explore the theme, “Roots of Connection: Strategies for Co-Regulation, Processing, and Team Collaboration.” Participants will attend the following three workshops:
- Listening Beneath the Behavior: Co-Regulation, Connection, and Neurodiversity
This session will explore how educators can better understand and support children’s behaviors through the lens of neuroscience, co-regulation, and neurodiversity. Learn tools for identifying sources of dysregulation, strengths-based models for classroom support, and the power of relationship-based approaches. We’ll discover reflective practices and playful interventions designed to foster connection and self-regulation in diverse learning environments.
Facilitator: Krista Wilbur, LMSW, MSEd - Visuals, Books, and Stories: Practical Tools for Supporting Children’s Processing
A picture is worth a thousand words. In this workshop, we will discuss how to use visual aids and bibliotherapeutic materials to support children’s learning, social understanding, and overall classroom experience. We will look at meaningful and intuitive tools that you can co-create with children, parents, and teachers that don’t take a lot of time to make.
Facilitator: Emily Andrews, MSEd - Building a Collaborative Team: Strategies, Goals, and Managing Expectations
Working as a SET is demanding, emotional, and highly personalized work. It can also feel isolating as practitioners move between cases. In this workshop, we will take a realistic look at how to build a collaborative team that benefits not only student outcomes, but also your own.
