Melanie Bryon

Interim Dean of Children's Programs & Head of the School for Children

Melanie Bryon is the Interim Dean of Children’s Programs and Head of the School for Children. She brings with her a longstanding dedication to progressive education, a focus on inclusive and student-centered learning, and decades of experience helping young people grow into thoughtful, curious, and compassionate individuals.

Melanie has been part of the Bank Street community since 2017, first as a Learning Specialist and later as Director of Student Support and Learning. In both roles, she has worked closely with teachers and families to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of every child. Her leadership reflects a thoughtful understanding of how children learn and develop, shaped by meaningful relationships and a belief that all students deserve to be known, valued, and supported.

Before joining Bank Street, Melanie spent 14 years in public school administration, serving as a principal and superintendent in Harlem and Brooklyn. Across all of her work, she has championed equity and opportunity, leading with clarity, warmth, and a deep respect for the communities she serves.
