Dr. Suzanne McCotter

Dean, Graduate School of Education

Dr. Suzanne McCotter became Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Bank Street College in July 2025 following a national search. She brings a deep commitment to progressive education, shared leadership, and community engagement, and looks forward to partnering with faculty, students, and alumni to advance Bank Street’s mission and impact.

Before joining Bank Street, Dr. McCotter served as Interim Provost at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), where she oversaw eight schools, 500+ faculty and staff, and 7,500 students. She previously led TCNJ’s School of Education and the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education, where she championed efforts to diversify the teacher workforce, expand access for adult learners, and launch the New Jersey Tutoring Corps to address post-pandemic learning changes.

Her leadership also included campus-wide initiatives in social justice, wellness, and interdisciplinary program development. Earlier in her career, she held leadership and faculty roles at Montclair State University and Millersville University, following her early work as a teacher and school media specialist in New Jersey and Georgia public schools.

Dr. McCotter holds a PhD in Middle School Education from the University of Georgia and earned her BA and MLS from Rutgers University. Her scholarly interests include educator preparation, professional development, and school-university collaboration.
