About Liberty LEADS
Liberty LEADS provides a comprehensive educational program designed to meet the cognitive, social, and personal needs of students in grades 5 through 12. We are committed to serving high achieving students on track for admission to very selective colleges as well as students who struggle academically and/or are at risk of dropping out of school. All students have access to a wide range of academic resources, college preparatory courses, counseling, mentoring, enrichment activities, and a consistent support system through ongoing relationships with caring adults.
Liberty LEADS shares the mission of Bank Street College, that: “by connecting teaching and learning meaningfully to the outside world we seek to strengthen not only individuals, but the community as well.” We see in education the opportunity to build a better society. Bank Street has a tradition of direct service that dates back to its inception in 1916. Today it is also home to a nationally acclaimed graduate education program, a K-8 lab school, and an inclusive pre-K Family Center. Liberty LEADS is a project of the Division of Continuing Education at Bank Street. The Division has a long history of putting its expertise in the field of education to work in the service of communities on both the local and national level through programs that embody the College's philosophy and approach to teaching and learning.
